Introduction

Pendimethalin is now available with Capsule Suspension technology.

Capsule Suspension technology uses a polymer coating to encase the pendimethalin molecules, reducing the staining properties and allowing Cinder to be formulated without solvents.

The result is the same tried and tested weed control you have come to expect from other pendimethalin formulations over a wide range of crops, but with less staining, less odour and easier equipment cleaning.

Pendimethalin the Active

Pendimethalin has been used as an agricultural herbicide since the 1970’s.

It has many uses across a range of crops including winter and spring cereals, vegetable crops, peas, potatoes, maize and fruit crops.

Absorbed by roots and leaves, pendimethalin has activity against many grass and broad leaf weeds including blackgrass, annual meadow grass, chickweed, mayweed, groundsel and speedwell.

Physical Properties

Pendimethalin is an insoluble dye which is a vivid yellow/orange in colour. In order to be sprayed,
pendimethalin has to form a solution in the spray tank.

Pendimethalin’s insoluble nature, combined with its vivid colouring has presented a challenge to formulation scientists.

Until now, formulations available have relied on using solvents which have resulted in either free flowing liquids with a strong odour or more gloopy products which can settle out in storage. Both are prone to staining spraying equipment.
